K Story-Kevin the Future King 管理者 2011-08-03

Kevin the Future King

Kevin’s father was a king.

When Kevin’s father died, Kevin would be the king.

So Kevin’s father wanted Kevin to be smart.

Kevin had a
kangaroo for his teacher.

The
kangaroo taught Kevin math, science, Chinese, and English.

Kevin tried hard to learn. He put all his time into studying.

But in the end, he was tired and wanted to have fun.

Kevin said to the
kangaroo, “You are my teacher, and you are great. Can I ask you something? Can’t we try something that is fun?”

The
kangaroo asked, “What do you want us to do?”

Kevin said, “I want to do something different.”

The
kangaroo said, “Okay, tomorrow you meet me in the park, I will teach you something new.”

When Kevin got to the park, the
kangaroo was waiting with a kite and a key in his hand.

He put the
kite in Kevin’s hand.  Kevin looked up. It was going to rain.

Kevin said, “Can we fly a
kite in the rain?”

The
kangaroo said, “Yes, but you need to put the key at the end of the string.”

So they tried to fly the
kite with a key at the end of the string.

Before long, lightning hit the
kite and went all the way to the end of the string and hit the key.

It stopped at the
key and the key lit up like a light.

Kevin and the
kangaroo had discovered electricity.

L Story-Larry the Lion 管理者 2011-08-02

Larry the Lion

Larry was a Lion. He lived in a jungle with his family.

Larry the Lion’s family was looking for animals to eat, but there were no animals to be seen.

Larry the Lion’s family became very hungry.

One day while looking for animals,
Larry the Lion saw a large lemon tree.

Larry the Lion thought the lemons looked good to eat.

Larry the Lion asked his family, “Can I eat the lemons?”

Larry the Lion’s family said, “No, lions don’t eat lemons, but people do.”

After
Larry the Lion’s family left, he had an idea.

Larry the Lion thought that he could sell the lemons to people in the Land of Lemons.

If he sold
lemons, he could make enough money to have food and a large house for his family.

In his large house he could put a
lemon tree and a light in each room.

Larry the Lion took the lemons and sold them in the Land of Lemons.

Larry the Lion thought of the same thing again, if I sell lemons I can make enough money for my family to have food, and I can have a large house with a lemon tree and light in each room.

Larry the Lion worked hard, and sold many lemons to the same people.

Larry the Lion always sold the lemons to the same people.

Those people said again and again, “
Larry the Lion has the best lemons in the Land of Lemons.”

Finally he made enough money for his family to have food, he had a large house, and he put a
lemon tree and a light in each room.

M Story-Rich Monkey, Poor Moose 管理者 2011-08-01

Rich Monkey, Poor Moose

Poor
Moose and Rich Monkey became friends in the first grade of an elementary school.

At first, they didn’t know who was poor and who was rich.

They were friends because they liked each other, not because of
money.

They never talked about
money.  They always talked about some girls or the sports they like.

They never talked about
money until they got to college.

One week, Rich
Monkey came to school everyday on a new motorcycle, while Poor Moose walked to school.

For five days, Rich
Monkey rode five new motorcycles.

Poor
Moose finally asked, “Why do you have a new motorcycle for each day of the week?  I don’t even have one motorcycle.”

Rich
Monkey said, “I don’t have to answer that question.  But if I do, the answer would be: I don’t need to worry about money. I am rich.”

Poor
Moose had heard Rich Monkey’s answer. He said, “I will never say anything about money again.”

A few years later, Poor
Moose saw his friend walking to school. Rich Monkey no longer had motorcycles.

But Poor
Moose didn’t want to say anything about money. So he didn’t ask why.

Finally, Rich
Monkey came to him and told him what had happened.  He said, “My dad lost all his money, and now I am poor. I don’t know what to do. I don’t have enough money to go to school.”

Poor
Moose thought he should help his friend, so he gave him some money.

A few more years later, Rich
Monkey worked very hard to make money. He thought he should pay back the money he owed to his friend Poor Moose.

He saw Poor
Moose and said, “I did not care about money before, but now I do. So I want to pay back the money I owe you.”

Poor
Moose said, “I don’t need the money.  I am not a poor moose anymore. I am a rich moose.

So, no matter who was rich or who was poor, they always stayed best friends.

Oscar the Police Officer

Oscar was 80 years
old but he still loved to work.

He was a police
officer and he worked in the city.

Sometimes he worked at night, but most of the time he worked during the day.

He loved going to the park. In the park, he would see his two favorite animals.

The
otter was in the lake, and the owl was in the tree next to the lake.

Oscar the police
officer would always bring snacks for the otter and the owl.

One day the
owl and the otter found that Oscar the police officer looked very sad.

They asked Oscar the police
officer, “What is wrong with you?”  Oscar the police officer said, “I am too old to work, they want me to quit, but I don’t want to quit. Who can help me?”

The
otter had an idea. He said, ”Let me drive the police car for you. And let the owl watch for you during the night”.

Oscar the police
officer said, “That is a great idea” So they tried it the next night.

It was true. The
owl’s eyes were great for watching, and the otter could really drive a police car.

So during the night the
otter and the owl would help Oscar, and during the day the otter would be back at home in the lake and the owl would be back at home in the tree.

With the help of the
otter and the owl, Oscar the police officer, was able to keep his job.

They became the best police team in the city.

Years after the
owl and the otter helped Oscar, the police officer began to use other animals for help, and that is why they use dogs today.

P Story-The Pig, The Parrot, and the Penguin 管理者 2011-07-29

The Pig, The Parrot, and the Penguin

Three friends, a
pig, a parrot, and a penguin, were sitting down and talking about their lives.

They came to know that they all wanted to do something before death.

They also knew that they would take part in everything they should do.

The
penguin said, “I think this will be hard. I always wanted to eat like a pig.”  The pig said, “That is not hard, I am a pig. You can come to my trough.”

So the three friends took part in eating from the
pig’s trough.

The food was good, but they didn’t really like it, for they had got too fat, so they went back home.

The
parrot said, “I think this will be really hard.  I want to go to the bottom of the earth.”

The
penguin said, “That is easy.  I come from the bottom of the earth. It’s called the South Pole.”

So the three friends took part in going to the South Pole.

The snow was good there, but they didn’t really like it, for it was too cold, so they went back home.

The
pig said, “I think this will be really, really hard. I want to fly.”  The penguin said, “Me, too!”  The parrot said to the penguin, “I thought you are a bird.”  The penguin said, “I am a bird, but I just can’t fly.”

The
pig and the penguin said, “So how can we fly?”  The parrot said, “You will have to use a parachute and I will fly next to you.”

So the
pig and the penguin jumped from a plane with a parachute attached to them which the parrot was flying in the air.

When the
pig tried to open the parachute, the parachute flew away. So the pig and the penguin were flying down to the ground, to their death.

The
penguin hugged the pig, while the parrot grabbed on to the penguin, and started flapping his wings.  The pig, the parrot, and the penguin flew closer and closer to the ground, until the hit.

But they did not die, because the
parrot had flapped his wings so hard, and because the pig was so fat that when they hit the ground they just bounced and bounced.

The three friends had all lived through each of the things they wanted to do.

When asked what they should tell their children, they said, “Tell them to follow their dreams.  Tell them that some will be good and some will be bad.  And tell them the good or the bad is what makes it special.”

Q Story-Quincy the Quilt Maker 管理者 2011-07-28

Quincy the Quilt Maker

Quincy’s mother taught Quincy to be a quilt maker.

Each year the
queen held a Quilt-Making Contest.

The winner of the
Quilt-Making Contest could live in the castle with the queen.

So
Quincy attended the Quilt-Making Contest.

The problem was:
Quincy never followed the rules in anything he did.

The
quilt he made for the contest was often against the rules.

The first time
Quincy made a quilt out of a big fat pig.

Quincy did not win the contest with that big fat pig, of course.

The second time he made a
quilt out of a big fat baby.

Quincy did not win the contest with the big fat baby, all the same.

The third time he made a beautiful
quilt picture of the queen.

But even the picture of the
queen could not win the contest for Quincy.

Quincy finally decided to ask the queen what was wrong with his quilts.

She said, “You did not follow the rules. You should not make
quilts of a big pig, a big baby, and a picture of me. You should make quilts of birds.”

So, finally
Quincy went back and made a beautiful quilt with a picture pattern of a baby quail with its mother. It reminded Quincy of his mother, and it reminded the queen of her mother.

Finally
Quincy had followed the rules, and because he made a beautiful picture pattern of the baby quail and its mother, he was the winner of the Quilt Making Contest, and got a chance to live in the castle with the queen.

R Story-The Race of Three 管理者 2011-07-27

The Race of Three

Three friends, a
rabbit, a raccoon, and a rhinoceros were listening to the radio together.

They heard there was a
race of three in the North of Russia, so they turned off the radio, and decided to go together to the North of Russia to run in the race.

When they got where the
race was, they saw many teams.

There were a few teams of only animals, and a few teams of only men, but most teams that would run in the
race had both animals and men for their teams.

They gathered together before the
race but didn’t know where they would start the race.

A team told the three friends where the starting line of the
race was.

At the starting line the three friends saw many teams and thought it would be hard to win the
race.

The
race was called “The Race of Three,” because each one in the race had to do one thing, and then all the three had to do one last thing together.

They started off and the first thing to do was climb a tree.  The
raccoon was very good at climbing and quickly went up the tree.

The next thing to do was jump on stones across the river.  The
rabbit was great at jumping and quickly went across the river.

The third thing to do was to get around a wooden wall.  The
rhinoceros could not jump, but he was so big and strong he just ran through the wall.

They came to the final thing they had to do together.  They had to swim across a lake to finish the
race.

The
raccoon said, “I can’t swim in deep water, but I might be able to use a branch to paddle.”  The rabbit said, “I can’t swim, but I might be able to use my legs to kick the water for power.”  The rhinoceros said, “I can swim though I am very slow, but you might be able to use me as a boat.”

So that was exactly what they did.  The
rhinoceros was the boat, the raccoon was the paddle, and the rabbit was the power and they made it across the river.

As soon as they crossed the lake, the
rabbit and the raccoon jumped off the rhinoceros and they had to run to the finish line.

They were the first team to cross the finish line. They won the
race. They knew they won, because they had put together each of their strengths.

S Story-A Scavenger Hunt 管理者 2011-07-25

A Scavenger Hunt

A boy went on a vacation with his parents. They went to an island.

He must have been very bored, for he tried to find a newspaper to read.

While he was reading the newspaper he found some news about a
Scavenger Hunt at the port.

He thought some other children might be bored, too, and might also want to join in the
Scavenger Hunt.

The next day he went to find the port.  It was not easy to find it, but finally he found the port and could join in the
Scavenger Hunt.

He was given a form to fill out.  And as other children came, he also saw that they were each given a form to fill out.

After the form was filled out by all the children, they were given a list of all the things they must find to win the game of the
Scavenger Hunt.

The list was read to all the children.  They must find sunglasses, sandals, a swimming suit, a shell, a snorkel, some sand, the
sun, a sailboat, and a seagull.

He thought, “If I want to win I must find all of these things, but it will be very hard.”

After he read the list, he realized that some of the things were very easy to find.

He went to his room and found sandals. He also found a swimming suit and a pair of sunglasses in his room.

He went to the beach and found a snorkel.  He also found some sand and a shell at the beach.

But now was the hard part, he needed to find the
sun, a sailboat, and a seagull.

He thought, “Did they say I have to find the real things?”

He decided no, he didn’t have to find the real things, so then it became easier.

He found a picture of the
sun in an art store. Then he found a picture of the sailboat in a toy store. Finally He found a picture of the seagull in a shop in a zoo.

He quickly ran to the port to give them all the things he had found.  When he got there, all the children were waiting.  The air was thick, like they had been waiting for a long time.

He asked the children, “Who was the winner?”  All the children looked back as the boy held his breath.  Again the air was very thick when he was waiting for the reply.

The children said, “No one has won. Nobody could find the
sun, a sailboat, and a seagull.”

The boy thought he had a chance to win.  He said, “They didn’t say it had to be the real things.”

And after he turned in all his things, with the air still thick, he was declared the winner of the
Scavenger Hunt.  He had won the game because he had used his mind and decided that what he needed to find were not all real things.

T Story-The Toad, The Tiger, The Turkey and The Turtle 管理者 2011-07-24

The Toad, The Tiger, The Turkey and The Turtle

There were four friends that went to school together.

The four friends were a
toad, a tiger, a turkey, and a turtle.

They thought they were very smart and they didn’t think they needed to study or learn.

They decided to skip school without telling the teacher.

But the teacher saw them and let them go.  He wanted to see if they would lie or tell the truth.

He decided to ask each one in turn to tell him what happened.

He let the four friends decide who would go first, second, third, and fourth and stand in front of the teacher.

First, it was the
tiger’s turn to stand in front of the teacher.  He thought he was really smart. He said, “My mom was sick and I had to go to the hospital.”

Second, it was the
toad’s turn to stand in front of the teacher.  He thought he should tell the truth. So he said, “I am sorry, let me tell the truth. We all went out to play.”

Third, it was the
turtle’s turn to stand in front of the teacher.  He also thought he should tell the truth. So he said, “I am sorry, let me tell the truth. We all went out to play.”

Last, it was the
turkey’s turn to stand in front of the teacher.  He also thought he was really smart like the tiger. He said, “My dog ran away and I had to look for it.”

The teacher was also very smart. He had learned what the students had done.  He decided to call the
tiger’s mom and ask if she was sick, and then call the turkey’s mom and ask if they had found their dog.”

When the
tiger’s mom came, she said, “What are you ada ada? I am not sick.”

When the
turkey’s mom came, she said, “What are you ada ada?  We don’t have a dog.”

So now the teacher had learned who told the truth and who lied.

The next day he spoke in front of the class and said, “I know most of you study hard, but there are some students who skipped school yesterday.  Some of them told me the truth, but some of them lied. I will tell you their stories. After that, please raise your hand and tell me who you think has told the truth or who has lied.”

The teacher had the four students stand in the front of the classroom and tell their stories.  He then asked the students to raise their hands and say who had lied and who had told the truth.

In the end the students knew who had lied.  The
turkey and the tiger got in trouble because they lied, while the toad and turtle were OK this time because they told the truth.
